Golden turmeric banana smoothie bowl

So today I opt for turmeric for breakfast πŸ™‚ I can see the look on your face already … last week she had cauliflower, now it is turmeric… what’s next ?

Well the beauty of vegan cuisine is that you reinvent recipes each day. You play with flavors combo, textures, and look for wholesomeness of ingredients whenever you cook.

So why not turmeric ?

This bright spice that gives the yellow colour you love in your curries, is an ancient root well known now for its anti inflammatory properties and has been used for ages in Chinese and Indian medicine !

So be good with your body and start your day with this beautiful and delightful bowl !

Vegan, protein rich, anti inflammatory, naturally sweetened … Just go for it, the recipe is just below:

  • 1 ripe banana cut in chunks and frozen
  • 2 tbsp vegan protein powder
  • 1 tbsp almond, cashew or macadamia butter
  • 1/2 cup almond milk (adjust according to your liking)
  • 1/2 tsp turmeric powder
  • raw cacao nibs and other toppings according to your like

Put everything except the toppings in your high speed blender and add the milk gradually.

Drink or serve in a bowl with crushed raw cacao nibs and a dust of turmeric.

Espresso smoothie

A little obsessed with coffee over the past few days, as I am doing a barista training this week end !

So I pulled out this espresso smoothie recipe I had noted many months ago and made one to share with Romain today.

Whaou, so satisfying !!! Very very very good and not so bad from a nutritious standpoint as it is sweetened by date, gets the flavour from a real espresso and raw cacao, and is rich in proteins !

I would suggest to share the recipe below for 2, but after a great workout session it can also be for one only (or if you are super hungry :).

In any case, you should try this killer smoothie πŸ™‚

Recipe:

  • 1 espresso (single or double shot depending on how strong you want it)
  • 1,5 tbsp raw cacao powder unsweetened (if you love chocolate go for 2 tbsp)
  • 2 tbsp vegan protein powder
  • 1 tsp chia seeds
  • 1/3 to 1/2 cup almond milk (adjust to get the consistency you like)
  • 2 ice cubes (or place your almond milk in ice cub tray and use it like that)
  • 2 to 3 dates depending on how sweet your tooth is
  • 1 tbsp coconut oil
  • 1 tsp vanilla powder

Put everything in your high speed blender and pulse until the perfect creamy, velvety texture and Enjoy πŸ™‚

What about kale for breakfast ?

Superfood for breakfast today !

Again I vote for green as it definitely wakes me up πŸ™‚

I have had many kale smoothie or smoothie bowls so far, but never combined it with apple strangely enough.

It brings a subtle sweet note, a Β nice acidity and lots of fibers !

Such a fresh and balanced combo. And definitely a superfood bowl: kale, apple, chia, almonds, goji berries ! wholesome nature goodness in one bowl πŸ™‚

And once again, you really don’t feel like you are eating kale (I love it but wouldn’t fancy its taste at 7.00 am though :).

I let you make your mind if you try the recipe just below and share your comments by mail or on Insta.

Recipe:

  • 1 cup kale (stems removed, ideally organic)
  • 1 small green apple cut in quarters (organic or remove the skin)
  • 2 tbsp vegan protein powder
  • 1 tbsp almond butter (or PB but stronger taste)
  • 1 tsp chia seeds
  • 1/3 to 2/3 cup almond milk (depending on the texture you like)
  • 1/2 tsp vanilla extract
  • Optional: 1 date (I did not put any, as the sweetness of goji bites in the bowl was enough for me, but if you like it rather sweet, add 1 to 2 dates)

Put all the ingredients in your high speed blender, ensuring you add the milk gradually, and pulse until you get a smooth creamy texture.

If you want it iced, place your almond milk in iced cubes trays the day before and add these almond milk ice cubes instead of liquid milk.

If you want to eat it in a bowl, top with goji berries, chia seeds, melon seeds (or pumpkin seeds) and strawberries (fresh or dehydrated).

Enjoy !

Cauliflower, blueberry and cacao smoothie

Hey, how do you feel today ?

Craving for something light and healthy for breakfast, and yet wouldn’t mind a bit of chocolate ?

I have the ideal smoothie combo for you πŸ™‚

Cauliflower smoothie πŸ™‚ First time, already in love !

My kids did not try to dare when I informed them I used blanched frozen cauliflower to make it though…Ah! Ah !

So if you want your family to try, don’t tell them upfront maybe πŸ™‚

As I mixed the cauliflower with blueberries, raw cacao powder, protein powder and almond milk, the taste was very balanced, with the subtle combo of red fruits and cacao. The cauliflower brought that creaminess you usually get from bananas without the overwhelming flavour of bananas.

Recipe is just here should you dare to give it a try πŸ™‚

  • 3/4 cup frozen blanched cauliflower
  • Β 1/2 cup frozen blueberries
  • 1/2 tbsp chia seeds
  • 1 to 1,5 tbsp cacao powder (depending on your chocolate craving πŸ™‚
  • 1 tbsp vegan protein flour (optional)
  • 1/2 to 1 cup almond milk (according to consistency you want)
  • 1 to 2 dates soaked in the almond milk for 10 min

Put all the ingredients in your high speed blender adding the milk gradually until you reach the proper creamy, silky texture.

Top with homemade granola, vanilla cashew cream (recipes on the blog), milled puffs, raw cocoa nibs, melon seeds, …

Anything you like actually and enjoy !

Apple crumble smoothie bowl

I am definitely European πŸ™‚

Felling like autumn is on the way, despite the climate in Singapore, I start to crave for apples, pumpkin, and gingerbread πŸ™‚

Especially when I read all the insta posts featuring amazing autumnal recipes !

So I decided to wipe out bananas from my smoothie bowls for some time and use apples instead !

In this super easy recipe you get a silky smoothie, spiced with cinnamon and cardamon. If you add some crunchy bites you could feel you are eating an apple pie / crumble.

Light yet, nourishing, GF, super healthy, super yummy ! Go for it and let me know πŸ™‚

Recipe:

  • 1 medium red apple (remove the skin if not organic)
  • 1/4 GF oats
  • 1/2 to 1 cup almond (or oat) milk
  • 1 or 2 dates (according to your sweet taste)
  • 1 tbsp vegan protein powder (optional)
  • 1 tbsp almond butter (or PB but stronger taste)
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1/2 to 1 tsp cinnamon (according to taste)
  • 1/4 tsp cardamon

Ideally soak the dates and oats for 15 min in the almond milk, then blendΒ all the ingredients in your high speed blender until you get a smooth texture. Add more almond milk if you want to drink it.

If you want to have a bowl, top with fresh apple slices, dried mulberries, chia seeds and puff millet (or homemade granola, walnuts, …)

Enjoy !

Chai smoothie

A little sick this morning, I felt I needed a cosy smoothie to get me through the day.

Opted for this vegan chai spiced version, I had tried and loved in Australia a few months ago.

It is super balanced, blending fruits and veggies :), proteins and good fats. And the spices will bring a nice flavor and are said to have great anti inflammatory qualities !

I guess it could become a regular, as it turned out so good !!

Sharing the recipe below so you can enjoy it too and share your comments πŸ™‚

Cacao fig nutty granola

I am a granola lover ! and so is Rose πŸ™‚

Whenever I bake a new one, my daughter is around, trying to grab a bite, even before it has cooled down πŸ™‚

I can only understand as I have always found it best when it is just a few min out of the oven, crispy but still a little hot. YUM !

I thought she might like less this variation which is made with raw cacao and not sweet at all. But she did ! and I am happy to see kids can love unsweetened granolas too. Why wouldn’t they though ? It is crunchy, nutty and fun to eat πŸ™‚

If you want to try this one which has super big clusters and is really healthy, follow the recipe below.

Enjoy πŸ™‚

Tropical Granola

Yesterday I realized I hadn’t baked granola for such a long time !

As I had just dehydrated some pineapple and mangoes I thought I’d change and make a sunny roasted granola using those beauties and lots of seeds !

Granola is so easy. Once you have the basic recipe you can make any kind of variation. And it is so much healthier as you know what you have put inside and in this case, use almost no additional sweetener and only 2 tbsp coconut oil !

This granola ended up being super crusty and full of exotic vibes.

Try it for yourself and enjoy it as a snack or with your yogurt / fruits πŸ™‚

Hazelnut Butter Brioche

When I was a kid I loved to have “brioche parisienne” for my afternoon snacks. A very typical small individual brioche you found in most french bakeries. It is really pretty with a little head on top of a big base. So fluffy and buttery ! Since then I have always loved brioches, but I don’t eat it so often nowadays πŸ™‚

So just back from our holidays in France, I was in the mood to bake some brioche for our Sunday breakkie.

I opted for the healthy version though (too many pastries eaten during the holidays πŸ™‚ ) and made a vegan brioche I had spotted in a French food magazine.
